Blurry Vision

How Does Blurry Vision Work?

Many people tend to notice that their vision is getting bad when everyday tasks become more difficult. In children, vision may become blurry as their eyes grow and change. Aging adults will experience blurry vision as their eyes change because of aging.

If the issue is that a person cannot see things that are far away, the diagnosis will likely be myopia. In children, this is usually caused by the lens of the eye growing out of time with the rest of the child. In some cases, this means that a child will outgrow the need for glasses. In most cases, however, the child will have vision problems for the rest of his or her life.

Treatment for Blurry Vision from an Optometrist on Our Team

Fortunately, there are things that can be done. Specialty prescription eye drops are now available from an optometrist on our team that contain a protein that helps to slow down the deformation of the lens over time. This can reduce the need for higher prescriptions in the future, but the drops cannot undo the damage that has already been done.

In order to permanently fix the problem with the deformation of the lens, the only method is a surgery such as LASIK. This surgery reshapes the lens, but it is only possible to perform the surgery on an individual that is done growing.

In adults, blurry vision can often just be a sign that the eyes are changing. While LASIK may be an option, it is ideal to talk to an eye doctor on our team about the root causes of your vision problems. It is possible for blurry vision to be the symptom of several different eye diseases. An eye doctor on our team will be able to screen for these issues.

If you choose corrective lenses, there are many styles to choose from. If you have never worn eyeglasses before, then ask a technician to help you to get a proper fit.
