.

Keratitis

This is a common type of eye infection that happens when the cornea gets infected. The cornea of each eye is a clear layer that protects and covers the pupil and iris. There are three types of infections that can affect the cornea, including infections caused by bacteria, fungi, and viruses. When this happens, the cornea will swell up and the eyes may swell and become red. This condition can cause eye pain, and it often makes the eyes create more tears. It can cause patients to get blurred vision or to experience discomfort when they open and close their eyes.

Conjunctivitis

This is one of the most common types of eye infections, and you may know it by the name pink eye. There are tiny blood vessels that are found in a thin membrane that lines the eyelids and eyeballs. When these blood vessels get infected, it causes the affected eye to become red or pink. It can also be caused by chemical exposure and eye allergies. When the cause behind the infection is bacteria or a virus, this condition is very contagious. When this eye infection starts, it remains contagious for a full 14 days. You may have conjunctivitis if your eyes have turned red or pink, or they are itchy or watery. It's important to get treatment for this condition so that you can relieve it. There are antibiotic medications that can be helpful.
